Protocol: Soybeans were weighed out of storage into the
roaster. These raw soybeans had a moisture
content of approximately 12.5%. Soybeans were
then roasted, steeped, cooled and stored in a bin.
Roasted soybeans were then weighed out of this
bin and moved into the feed mill.
Numbers: Raw soybean weight 344,800 lbs
Roasted soybean weight 318,940 lbs
Shrink 7.5%
Comments: “The roasted soybeans Midwest Grain Roasters,
Inc. provided us preformed very well. The
by-pass protein was significantly higher than our
previous supplier. When we considered all costs:
trucking, shrink and roasting charges, costs were
reduced by more than $1.00 per bushel.
