ROASTING PROCESS FLOW: 1. Scale beans 2. Deliver weighed beans to a roaster access point so they can be roasted. a. Prior to roasting into a surge bin i. Cone bottom bin ii. Overhead bin b. At the time of roasting i. Using trucks or wagons, when load is roasted switching to the next load. ii. Using trucks or wagons, delivered into a stationary wagon to be roasted. ( this is better than switching loads) 3. Roast beans 4. Steep beans a. In a wagon or truck that is then delivered to storage site.(cooling is needed at this time) b. In a wagon (at least 300 bushel) that is stationary over an auger that fills a storage bin with a floor and fan for cooling. i. 2 wagons work even better. Longer steep, lower roasting temp: unload wagon #1 while filling #2, Place wagons facing each other over the auger. |
